Niaz Latif, Ph.D. Appointed as Dean of the School of Technology
Dr. Niaz Latif, assistant dean for Statewide Technology Administration in the college of technology at Purdue University, West Lafayette, joined Purdue University Calumet on July 1, 2007. Latif’s academic career began as an instructor of engineering at Louisiana State University-Eunice. Before joining Purdue University as a professor in the Department of Industrial Technology in 1999, he taught as an assistant and associate professor at Northern Kentucky University. Administratively, Latif served as the director of the Technical Services Institute and coordinator of the engineering technology programs at Northern Kentucky. When he joined Purdue University in 1999, he was appointed head of the department of Industrial Technology and began his present position in 2006. Latif will succeed Dean Dennis Korchek, who will return to a faculty position in the Department of Construction Management and Information Technology after his sabbatical. "Dr. Latif brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the academic leadership team of Purdue Calumet. I have been impressed by his leadership skills, commitment to academic excellence and enthusiasm," said Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Nabil Ibrahim. "I am looking forward to working closely with Dr. Latif on leading the School of Technology to a new height of academic prominence." |
