Q. Are the Office of Alumni Relations and the Purdue Alumni Association- Calumet (PAAC) the same?

A. No, the Office of Alumni Relations is a University office that works in cooperation with the University community to serve all Purdue Calumet alumni.

The alumni office is part of PUC's Office of Advancement. The Purdue Alumni Association - Calumet is an external organization "housed" within the Office of Alumni Relations that is part of the Purdue Alumni Association, Inc. Membership in the alumni association is $40 per year.

Q. What's the difference between the Purdue Alumni Association, Inc. (PAA) and the Purdue Alumni Association - Calumet (PAAC)?

A. PAA is the alumni association for the entire Purdue system--including regional campuses such as Purdue Calumet, Purdue North Central (Westville, IN), Indiana Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), and Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). Members of a regional campus alumni association are automatically members of PAA, Inc.

Q. What are the benefits of joining the Purdue Alumni Association - Calumet?

A.

  • Benefit students directly through the PAAC Scholarship Fund.
  • Network with other Purdue alumni in 125 alumni groups worldwide.
  • Receive a special "members only" alumni association datebook.

Q. I recently graduated, how long before I get my Purdue Alumni Association membership card

A. The University awards one-year free membership to when graduates receive their first degree from Purdue Calumet. It normally takes about one month to enter all the new graduates into our alumni database and to mail the new membership cards. Membership cards for all the Purdue campuses are prepared by the Purdue Alumni Association, Inc.

Q. What's the difference between the Purdue Alumni Association Calumet and Purdue Club of Lake County?

A. The Purdue Club of Lake County is an alumni group under PAA, Inc. that typically consists of Purdue University (West Lafayette) alumni living in Lake County, Indiana. PAAC typically consists of Purdue University Calumet alumni. Purdue University Calumet just happens to be located in Lake County, Indiana. PAAC members are also members of PAA, Inc. However, paying dues for the Purdue Club of Lake County,or any other Purdue Club, does not make you a PAAC or a PAA member. There are many Purdue Clubs across the country and around the world and all Purdue graduates, regardless from which campus they graduated, are eligible to join.

Q. What is the Phone-A-Thon?

A. The Phone-A-Thon is an annual fundraising campaign sponsored by Purdue Calumet's Office of Advancement. During the Phone-A-Thon, Purdue Calumet students call alumni to ask for donations to the Annual Fund. Alums may designate their contributions to an academic department, for scholarships or wherever needed most by the University.

Q. Does my contribution to Purdue Calumet include membership in the alumni association?

A. No, PAAC does not receive funding from Purdue Calumet's Office of Advancement unless you specifically indicate that you would like your gift to go to PAAC. Gifts are tax deductible--membership dues are not. Making a gift to PAAC does not make you a member of PAAC.

Q. How can I get a copy of my academic transcripts? / If I lost my diploma, how can I get it replaced?

Q. Can the Office of Alumni Relations or the Purdue Alumni Association - Calumet verify graduation?

A. No. Only the Registrar can verify graduation.

Q. If I'm a Purdue and/or a Purdue Calumet alum, can I or my children get a tuition discount?

A. No. Tuition alone does not pay for the full cost of educating a student at Purdue. Therefore, discounts are not available.

Q. My child is interested in attending Purdue. How can he/she get a campus tour?

A. To arrange a tour of Purdue University Calumet, call Purdue Calumet's Office of Admissions at (219) 989-2213.

To arrange a tour of Purdue University (West Lafayette, IN), call Purdue's Office of Admissions at (765) 494-1776.

Q. Does the Office of Alumni Relations or the alumni association sell tickets to athletic events?

A. No. For information on tickets to Purdue Calumet men's and women's basketball, men's soccer or women's volleyball, call Purdue Calumet's Athletic's Department at (219) 989-2540. For information on tickets to Purdue University athletic events, call (765) 494-3194 or 1-800-49-SPORT.
