Ralph L. Cherry, Ph.D.

Dr. Cherry received his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Minnesota, and is currently an Associate Professor of Sociology and Director of the Gerontology Center at Purdue University Calumet. He joined the faculty of Purdue University Calumet in 1987. His teaching areas include Medical Sociology, Social Gerontology, Family Sociology and Social Organization. He is currently doing research on the use by older people of information on community health and human services, and comparative structures of health care regulations.


Jacqueline B. Hill, M.S.S.A.

An Associate Professor of Social Work, Professor Hill has been a faculty member since 1980. She received her Masters in Public Health. Professor Hill has also received a M.S.S.A. from Case Western Reserve School of Applied Social Sciences and also holds an M.P.H. Her teaching areas include Field Instruction in Social Work, Social Work Strategies and Techniques, Introduction to Social Work, Institution of Social Welfare, Child Welfare Services, Social Welfare Policy, and Introduction to Sociology. Her research interest is in the effects of family violence on children’s mental health.


Linda S. Mura, Ph.D.

Dr. Mura joined the Purdue University Calumet faculty an 1972 while still a graduate student at Purdue University in West Lafayette. She completed her Ph.D. in 1973 and is currently as Associate Professor of Sociology. Her teaching areas include marriage and family, gender roles, social problems, and introductory sociology. She has professional interests in returning students, gender, and changing definitions of social problems. Linda is also an academic advisor in the department.

Dave received his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin. He is a Professor of Sociology, teaching Deviant Behavior and Criminology, Social Psychology, Sociological Theory, and Research Methods. He is currently researching prejudice and authoritarianism, and the measurement of attitude strength. He has been a member of the Purdue University Calumet faculty since 1966.


Alan J. Spector, Ph.D.

A Professor of Sociology, Dr. Spector received his Ph.D. from Northwestern University. He came to Purdue University Calumet in 1977. His interests/specializations are in race and ethnic relations, stratification and social change, international sociology, and social problems.
