Dr. Choi to conduct comprehensive plant inventory in Taltree Arboretum

Dr. Young Choi works to protect local flora.
Young. D. Choi, Ph.D., Professor of Biological Sciences at PUC will conduct a comprehensive inventory of local plant life in the Taltree Arboretum.
Taltree Arboretum is a 300-acre reserve of woodlands, wetlands, prairies, gardens and woody plant collection, located in Valparaiso, Indiana. Recently, the Arboretum identified a need of flora inventory to establish baseline data for management and future planning of its property. To meet this need, he will conduct a comprehensive inventory of tree, shrub, and herbaceous species in the Arboretum.
A final report will be submitted to the Taltree Arboretum at the end of this project that will entail list all vascular plant species, along with density, basal area, and relative importance of each species. These results will also be presented to a professional meeting at regional or national level (e.g., Natural Area Conference, annual meeting of the Ecological Society of America, or International Congress of Ecology) prior to publication in a professional journal (e.g., Natural Areas Journal).
