majors, location of work,
nature of work environment, compensation rate and benefits (if applicable), work
hours required and anticipated schedule. All opportunities will be posted
centrally through
CareerTrax, our online student jobs database. Links to your
company’s website can also be created here so that students can easily access
your site.
Our online job database system
CareerTrax also offers many additional
features for employers. In addition to posting various positions, employers can
conduct resume searches and easily monitor their contact with PUC students.
One of Purdue University Calumet’s goals is to help employers connect with
students through various programs and special events such as professional
development workshops, panel discussions, forums, faculty interface, industry
related student organizations, mock interviews, and more. These events are
available throughout the fall and spring semesters and offer future employers
and potential mentorship opportunities for quality face-to-face interactions
with students. For more information, please contact us at (219) 989-2600.
In an effort to increase interest in your company and fill your on-campus
interviewing schedule, you may elect to hold a presentation prior to your
on-campus interview dates. In these sessions, you or your representatives speak
about career paths within the organization and/or talk about the positions for
which you are recruiting. These presentations also increase your campus
visibility. If you have a current employee that is a Purdue grad or intern,
bring them along to give their testimony. This encourages candidates
tremendously!
We can assist you with on-campus room reservations and ordering refreshments
for your company presentation or information session. Call our Recruiting
Coordinator at (219) 989-2529 to schedule your company presentation or
information session today.
Not all employers are able to visit or interview on campus.
CareerTrax
maintains a resume database of Purdue University Calumet students seeking
full-time, post-graduation employment and students seeking internships. The
database may be searched by preferred criteria such as major, degree level, GPA,
graduation date, etc. Our staff can send these resumes to employers upon their
request. To utilize our resume referral service, contact our Recruiting
Coordinator at (219) 989-2529. If you prefer to search our database on your own
you may log on to
CareerTrax and access your
CareerTrax account or give us
a call for more help getting started.
Space is provided for companies needing to administer pre-employment or
competency testing. Proctors can also be assigned with advanced notice. Please
contact our Recruiting Coordinator at (219) 989-2529 to discuss your
organization’s testing needs.
Many employers consider career fairs and academic roundtables to be some of
their most valuable recruiting tools. A career expo or fair provides an
opportunity for you to screen hundreds of possible employees in just a few
hours.
Academic Roundtable events, on the other hand, are designed so that
employers, faculty and students can network, learn about each other and share
experiences in a non-threatening environment. These events are valuable
advertising opportunities which help keep your name in front of our
students…your future employees. Check out upcoming
Career Fairs listing online and events by
contacting our Recruiting Coordinator at (219) 989-2529.
Similar to career fairs, many employers consider internship and experiential
learning fairs to be another valuable recruiting tool. An internship fair
provides an opportunity for a company to screen possible interns for the summer,
fall, or spring semesters. It is also a great opportunity for employers to
recruit talent that can be nurtured and possibly retained as a full-time hires
once the student or students graduate. You can contact an Internship Coordinator
at (219) 989-2432 for upcoming dates or additional information.
If you are uncertain about the development of your experiential learning
opportunity, Internship Coordinators at Purdue University Calumet can help you
design an experience to match your organization’s special needs. Our Internship
Coordinators work closely with our faculty to ensure our students meet the
educational requirements of proposed positions and to insure it is marketed
appropriately to our students. If you would like an Internship Coordinator to
help establish your organization’s student learning program, contact (219)
989-2432 and our staff will gladly assist you.
For your convenience, workshops are provided to employers prior to the start
of the semester you are planning to employ a Purdue University Calumet student.
An on-line session can be offered to accommodate your busy schedule if needed.
Check out Experiential Learning at the Center for Student Achievement at www.calumet.purdue.edu/csa/experience for more information.
Once you have selected the ideal candidate, we will provide your organization
tools to assess your student. These tools have been created to be utilized and
shared with the faculty and staff at Purdue University Calumet for the benefit
of our students and their development. If you would like an Internship
Coordinator to provide your organization with student assessment tools, contact
(219) 989-2432.
Purdue University's Formal On-Campus Recruiting Program connects you with a
diverse pool of students with strong work ethics, transferable skills and
practical experience. Formal On-campus recruiting is typically used by employers
with high-volume hiring needs to recruit for internship/experiential learning
experiences and entry-level positions; however it can also be used to recruit
for advanced, experienced positions and for Masters Degree candidates. Your
position is advertised in
CareerTrax, PUC’s online job board, and all
interviewing takes place in Purdue University Calumet’s interview room
conveniently located in our career center.
At least one interviewing schedule in the fall and spring helps you build a
strong reputation and presence on campus. As an employer, you may also
pre-select the students you would like to interview prior to your scheduled date
and by viewing your interview schedules online. Call our Recruiting Coordinator
at (219) 989-2529 early to set your on-campus interviewing date(s).
The Career Center requires employers uphold the professional conduct
standards outlined in the National Association of Colleges and Employers' (NACE)
Principles for Employment Professionals, a subsection within NACE's Principles
for Professional Conduct. To review NACE's Principles for Professional Conduct,
please visit
http://www.naceweb.org/principles/principl.html.
In accordance with NACE's Principles for Professional Conduct, the Career
Center recommends employers give students a minimum of 3 weeks to return a
decision on a job offer.
The Career Center also asks that all students participating in the Formal
On-Campus Recruiting Program abide by ethical policies and guidelines.
Scheduling on-campus recruiting dates in advance allows students adequate
time to sign up on your interview schedule and for us to reserve an interviewing
room at our Hammond campus. Daily interview schedules are open from September
through December for the fall term and February through May for the spring.
Scheduling informal on-campus recruiting dates allows employers the
opportunity to set up tables in the concourse and casually interact with
students. This type of event allows employers to market their opportunities
without the stress of a formal job fair or interview situation. This allows
organizations a chance to potentially reach a different student base to fill
their part- time, full- time, or even seasonal positions.
There is no charge to set up this type of recruiting event. Informal
recruiting dates can be scheduled all year long as well as multiple times
throughout the year. To schedule your informal recruiting visits, please contact
our Recruiting Coordinator at (219) 989-2529.
The Career Center requests that all employers participating in the On-Campus
Recruiting Program report salary data and job offers extended to PUC students.
This data is compiled and can be used to help you price your salary offers in
the future. It is also reported to NACE at the end of each academic quarter to
help employers monitor salary levels for recent graduates. To report job offers,
