CalNet is Purdue University Calumet’s wireless network. It
is available to students, faculty, and staff, and you must register
your laptop to be granted access to the service.
CTIS provides open access computers to Students, Faculty and
Staff throughout the campus. These computers are set up for
checking email, working on homework, and are equipped with internet
access. The only thing that is unavailable is printers in
these areas.
ResNet
is the residential computer network service provided to students
living at University Village. ResNet allows you to connect your
personal computer directly to PUC’s computer network and, through
the University network, to the Internet.
Students of Purdue University Calumet may host their personal web sites at the University.
You may use the software of your choice to create and publish your web
pages. FrontPage is available at a reduced cost to students in the
Campus Bookstore, and is installed on all lab computers on Campus.
The H: Drive is a personal Network drive. Every student, faculty
and staff member with a Novell (computer) account has space
personally allocated to them on the Network for storage. This space
appears in the form of another drive, an H: drive.
A variety of different methods to contact CTIS and request
technical support, have been developed and are unavailable to all
who need assistance.
NetMail is your personal campus e-mail account. Every student is provided with a NetMail account. All official University information will be sent to this account. Therefore, plan to check for messages frequently.
Purdue University and Microsoft Corporation have
entered into an agreement for volume licensing of commonly used
Microsoft software. Therefore, you can purchase the
following Microsoft titles in the
PUC Bookstore
at a substantially reduced price.
PC STAR (Purdue Calumet Student Access to Records) offers a link to many of your personalized campus records, via the Internet.
To obtain your username for logging into the Campus network, check
account balances, register and pay for classes, or view grades and
financial aid status.
The CTIS Customer Service Center (CSC),
is the unit of CTIS that most customers are familiar with. It is through the
CSC that service requests are logged, assigned to other CTIS units, and tracked. The support personnel of the
CSC resolve an average of 50 - 60% of service requests eliminating the
need for an office visit from a technician.
Blackboard Vista, or Vista as you may see it referred to, is Purdue University Calumet’s online course management system. It is a web-based application that allows you access to course materials via the Internet.
