        The Residential Computer Network

ResNet is the residential computer network service provided to students living at University Village. ResNet allows you to connect your personal computer directly to PUC's computer network and, through the University network, to the Internet.

As a subscriber to ResNet services, you are entitled to the full benefits offered by the program. However, you are responsible for determining whether your equipment and software are suitable for use with the ResNet services and for maintaining their functionality. You will need to setup all of your equipment and software. It is also your responsibility to report any problems that you have with your ResNet service.

You must use the IP address that is assigned to you by the online registration process. Use of an IP address that was not registered for your computer may interfere with someone else’s use of the network and/or render your ResNet connection nonfunctional.

Deliberate attempts to use an IP address that was not assigned to you are violations of policy that will not be tolerated and will be referred to the University Village for appropriate action.

    DHCP and Online Registration

All computers connected to the campus network via ResNet should be configured to obtain an IP address automatically using DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). Once connected, you will need to open your web browser and complete the online registration in order to obtain your IP address.
