    Outlook Mail Management

    Mail Management

E-mail overload is a problem that affects nearly everyone. It is estimated that corporate e-mail users receive more than 30 incoming e-mails a day, and that e-mail volume may grow by as much as 80% in the next year. Much of that increase will come from unsolicited promotional e-mail, or spam.  The above link will give you more information about Email.

    Problem: E-Mail Overload

The most common problem with Users' mailbox. Click the above link for more information.

    Solution: Remove the Load

    A quick how-to

    The Empty Inbox

We are responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of computers, printers, and misc. equipment pertaining to the computing needs of the university. Anything related to the proper functioning of the computer hardware and software, and computer-related equipment is within our jurisdiction.

    Misused Inbox

Given the obvious benefits of an empty inbox, why do so many users allow their inboxes to fill up? Click the above link for the answer.

    How to Empty an Inbox

I quick three step process on how to empty your Inbox in Microsoft Outlook.

    How to Engage in E-mail

The specific action for engaging an e-mail depends on the type of e-mail. At this point, remember, spam and personal e-mail are already gone from the inbox. The three remaining types of e-mail are newsletters, FYIs, and tasks.  Click the above link for more information.

Emptying your inbox the First Time

Many users will no doubt have some difficulty following these suggestions, given the current state of their inboxes. Cleaning out a few spam e-mails is easy enough, but what if there are hundreds of FYIs and action items already in the inbox that have sat there for months?

How often to Empty your Inbox

As e-mails arrive in a steady stream throughout the day, it’s impossible to keep the inbox empty at all times. It’s up to the user to decide how often to clear out the inbox.
