The Entrepreneurship Center

Vision:
A strong and growing regional economy with a competitively efficient entrepreneurial base.

Mission:
The economic development of any region is directly influenced by, and is dependent upon: The strengths of its industry & business, Training and competency of its owners & employees, and access to relevant technical & business resources.

The Mission of the E-Center is, therefore, to stimulate economic growth in the region through academic & non-academic action-oriented programs in keeping with Purdue University Calumet's strategic goal of becoming more active in the economic development of the region.

Objectives/Goals:

  1. To develop and offer a wide range of entrepreneurship related programs.
  2. To arrange (for entrepreneurs, start-up companies, and regional economic entities) improved access to:
    • Purdue University Calumet's faculty and staff expertise.
    • Graduate & undergraduate student research & term-projects for commercialization.
    • Technical & business training programs.
  3. To enhance opportunities for the regions business, industry, and government to access student interns and to participate in work-experience programs
  4. To develop synergies at an inter-disciplinary level among various Purdue Calumet departments and schools; make them more focused towards economic development.
  5. To facilitate the region's economic diversification through applied research and technology transfer.
  6. To provide a platform for entrepreneurs to enhance their competitive skills and to thus develop more productive, profitable and growth-oriented businesses.
  7. To provide a bridge between entrepreneurs/businesses and academia to increase knowledge flow in both directions.
