Omer Farook is an Associate Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology Program in the Department of Engineering Technology.
He started his engineering career by receiving the Diploma of
Licentiate in Mechanical Engineering in 1970 from Government Polytechnic, India. Then he received
B.S.M.E. in 1973 from Chicago Technical College. He further received B.S.E.E. in 1978
and M.S.E.E. in 1983 from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Professor Farook received his industrial background by working as a Design Engineer
for General Electric and Hobart Corporations. He has served in the capacity of a
consultant to a number of corporations. He is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical
and Electronics Engineers.
His current professional interests are in the areas of Microprocessor/Microcontroller
based Embedded Systems Design, Computer Interfacing, Digital and Data
Communication, Designing of software and firmware utilizing the Objects
Oriented Programming Methodology with C++ language, Windows Application
Design, Server Side Programming (CGI), Integration of Data Bases with
Distributed Devices and Distributed Systems.
