Akram Hossain is a professor in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology
He worked eight years in the industry at various capacities. He has been with Purdue University
Calumet for the past 15 years.
He consults for the industry on process control and related disciplines. He is a senior
member of IEEE. He served in IEEE/Industry Application Society for the past 15 years. He served as
chair of Manufacturing Systems Development Applications Department of IEEE/IAS.
He authored more than 15 refereed journal and conference publications. He is currently involved
in process control related research projects. He was invited to write a View Point on Open Architecture
of PLC in the Forecast Issue of IEEE Spectrum in 1997.
His interests are in the area of industrial transducer, industrial process control, statistical
process control, computer aided design and fabrication of printed circuit board, programmable
logic controllers and programmable logic devices.
