TRANSITION TO TEACH
APPLICATION & REGISTRATION PROCESS
- Obtain a copy of Purdue University Calumet’s Undergraduate Application (http://esc.calumet.purdue.edu/admissions/application.pdf). Be sure to mark the following questions as indicated: #12-Admit Type: “for certificate at Purdue University Calumet”; #13-Entry Date: “Spring 2008”; #14-Major: “Education T3-ZCO”. All other questions answer appropriately for your situation.
- Obtain three (3) recommendation letters from colleagues, teachers, managers, or others who know you, your strengths, and your abilities on a professional level. Letters must then be sent to Charlotte Rakich via email (rakich@calumet.purdue.edu) or via mail by November 1st.
- With Application by November 1st, include the following:
- Copy of Praxis I (Reading, Writing & Math) Scores. This test must be successfully completed before your application will be considered.
- Information regarding the passing of the Praxis II content area test.
- Proof of Liability Insurance. See the secretary in X-151 for information on insurance through the student organization, if necessary.
- Copy of Limited Criminal History Report. See the secretary in X-151 for information on how to obtain the report.
- Resume documenting the 150 hours of Educational Experience.
- Receipt from the Bursar’s office for the application fee of $600. Be sure the Bursar’s Office understands this is for the application fee for T3.
- Successful completion of the Oral Proficiency Interview for Foreign Language Candidates.
- Three Letters of Recommendation
- Portfolio. Purdue University Calumet will hold meetings to assist you in creating a portfolio. Please contact the secretary at 989-2360 for the dates for the upcoming semester. Be sure to get a Handbook for the class EDCI 205 from the Calumet Campus Bookstore at Purdue University Calumet.

BEFORE 4PM ON November 1st.
Once documents are submitted, the School of Education will review the information for completeness and appropriateness. If upon review, all information is included, Ms. Rakich will contact you by November 15th via postal mail. Along with an introductory letter will be contact information and information regarding the portfolio interview process with two of the School of Education faculty members. The portfolio must be turned in prior to February 1st.
