Biography:
Lizbeth Bryant writes and teaches about writing with a focus on how we learn to write and the best ways to teach writing. Dr. Bryant creates classroom spaces that support the literacy development of students from all backgrounds. She employs a critical pedagogy with the use of collaborative groups, portfolio assessment, grade contracts, reading and writing workshops, student/teacher conferences, self-reflection, and publication opportunities.
Dr. Bryant has published two books, Grading in the Post-Process Classroom (Heinemann 1997) and Voice as Process (Heinemann, 2005). Her third book Essays on Writing is under contract with Pearson–Longman and is scheduled for publication in fall 2008.
Prior to her joining the faculty at Purdue University Calumet, Dr. Bryant taught at the University of Tampa, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, and Ohio State University-Mansfield. While at Ohio State University, she founded and directed the Mid-Ohio Writing Project, a site of the National Writing Project.

Director of First-Year Writing:
Dr. Bryant oversees the first-year writing program: Engl 100, 104, 105, and 108. She develops the curriculum, mentors the writing instructors, trains the graduate assistants, and supervises the English supplemental instructor program. Current projects include assessing the course outcomes of Engl 100 and 104.
