Spend a semester…

  •  Reporting stories with a sports writer at the Chicago Tribune.

  •  Learning the ins and outs of the stock market as an intern with the Chicago Board of Trade.

  •  Assisting a scientist researching X at the Argonne National Laboratories.

At Purdue University Calumet, we call this Experiential Learning. To students, it means gaining real-world experience in the disciplines that they’re considering for their careers.

Faculty members mentor students throughout the entire Experiential Learning process, helping them to apply the theories and knowledge they learn in the classroom through internships, undergraduate research, service learning, cooperative education, design projects, and out of the classroom course credits. Students gain confidence and build relevant business skills that add value to their already powerful Purdue degree.

The best part: Because Experiential Learning is built into our curriculum. All of our students will have this exceptional opportunity. Purdue University Calumet is one of a select few institutions in the country to adopt this approach as a graduation requirement that complies with National Society for Experiential Education standards.
