Purdue University Calumet has a Plan for Success in Northwest Indiana...

Outlined below are the targeted goals for Purdue University Calumet’s Plan for Success. You may designate your gifts as you choose.

Campaign Goals

Goal 1... A High-Quality Learning Environment

384-bed Student Housing Complex on Hammond campus: $2,000,000
Development of a Learning Center in Merrillville: $2,000,000
Academic Departmental Improvements: $1,000,000

Key to Purdue Calumet’s vision for a high-quality learning environment is development of student housing. The proposed 384-student, apartment-style complex will transform Purdue Calumet and its campus environment.

Also key to a high-quality learning environment is construction of a Learning Center in Merrillville. Such a facility will enable Purdue Calumet to consolidate its current array of course offerings at various, off-campus locations in the growing south Lake County area. This Center will be built on Purdue Research Foundation-owned land. It will provide a state-of-the-art, starter location for students to begin pursuing their degrees before finishing at our Hammond campus.

Finally, our high-quality learning environment "Plan for Success" addresses the need to upgrade academic learning facilities at our Hammond campus. We want to build a Construction Technology lab, modernize and re-equip our Information Systems lab and renovate our Hospitality and Tourism Management kitchen.

Goal 2... Community Building

Development of Indiana Water Resource Institute: $1,500,000
Entrepreneurship Center business training scholarships: $300,000

Purdue Calumet’s "Plan for Success" through community building means applying university strengths and expertise to help preserve water through development of the Indiana Water Institute. This institute will conduct research and offer educational programs to solve water-related problems.

Another component of our "Plan" is providing scholarships to business owners, so they can gain valuable training through our award-winning Entrepreneurship Center.

Goal 3... Endowments and Scholarships

Chancellor’s Scholars Endowed Fund: $1,500,000
Other Endowments and Scholarships: $1,000,000

Essential to Purdue Calumet’s "Plan for Success" is an investment in students through increased scholarship and endowment dollars. Earmarked for special attention is the Chancellor’s Scholars Fund, which supports full tuition, renewable awards for our region’s top high school graduates.

Also designated for support are other student awards, including the Community Service Scholarship. These annual awards go to highly committed students who perform hours of service in their home communities each year.

Goal 4... Operational Funds

Operational and Unrestricted: $1,500,000

Last, but far from least in our "Plan for Success", are operational and unrestricted gifts—gifts that are essential to advancing exciting and important campus initiatives for which funding otherwise is unavailable. Your gifts to Departments and Schools, to the Library, and to the Chancellor’s Strategic Fund will all count toward this goal.
