Graduate Aide
To be eligible to hold a graduate staff position during any session, an individual must be enrolled as a graduate student in a degree-seeking or teacher licensure program and be registered for at least three credit hours of course and/or research work during the entire appointment period. To obtain a graduate staff position inquire within your department, the Center for Career and Leadership Development, and or the Graduate School. Graduate aide positions are either on a quarter-time, half-time, three-quarter time, or full-time basis. Any full time positions require approval from the Office of the Graduate School. Health insurance is not available to graduate staff employees.
Graduate students with assistantship employment are granted a tuition remission in addition to the pay received for the hours worked. The tuition remission leaves the student to pay $612 for general tuition plus technology, parking, and R&R fees per credit hour each semester (effective 2007-2008). Tuition and fees are subject to change every academic year.
Every semester there are forms that must be completed in order for the employment position and the tuition remission to be active. The student can see their employing department to gather the forms. The first is the Graduate Remission Form. The second is the Graduate Aide Information Form and the last is the Grad Staff Notice of Appointment. The employing department will fill out the later of the forms. Be sure to obtain a copy of the later form once it has been processed. The department can instruct you as to where to turn in the forms once they are completed. Following is a form that explains the graduate appointments and the monthly stipends that accompany the position.
Exceptions to provisions of this page should be forwarded to the Office of the Graduate School for approval.
