Mission: The Purdue University Calumet Archives contain records and publications of the institution, as well as papers and publications by faculty, staff, and students, plus the tapes and transcripts of the Purdue Calumet Oral History Project. All archival records are described in the register, which is available in the Archives and Special Collections Office. Some records are available through PULSE, the online catalog. Usage of archival material may be arranged only in consultation with the Archives staff, except for the items noted in the open Special Collections area.
The Special Collections of Purdue University Calumet are developed to support faculty and student research, particularly on local matters. In addition to the book and manuscript collections described below, a minimal vertical file is maintained, available in consultation with the Archives staff.
Open Special Collections: These are shelved separately at the SW corner of the library and may circulate.
- Publications by and about Purdue Calumet except published items by faculty and staff, which are in the general collections.
- Books re: local concerns as well as general works on Indiana and the works of authors identified with Indiana.
Closed Special Collections: These are shelved in the Archives & Special Collections room and are available for consultation there. They do not circulate.
- Duplicate copies of Purdue Calumet publications
- Books re: local concerns as well as general works on Indiana that are out of print or otherwise unavailable; valuable editions of particular works; some second copies of open collection items.
Any items from this category that are held exclusively in the closed collection are represented by a book dummy on the open collection shelves.
The Special Collection manuscripts collection includes both personal and organization papers. Each collection is fully described in the register available in the Archives & Special Collections room, and selected subject indexing is provided in the Special Collection name and subject index in that room.
