Mathematics Minors

Description

We offer two minors in Mathematics, one in Pure Mathematics and the other in Applied Mathematics. Both programs are described below.

 

Minor in Mathematics
(23 credit hours)

Course Requirements:

• MA 163 – Integrated Calculus and Analytic Geometry I (5 Cr.)
• MA 164 – Integrated Calculus and Analytic Geometry II (5 Cr.)
• MA 261 – Multivariate Calculus (4 Cr.)
• MA 265 – Linear Algebra
• MA 315 – Introduction to Abstract Mathematics
• One of the following:
  • MA 446 – Real Analysis
  • MA 453 – Elements of Algebra

Prerequisites:

• MA 163 requires High School precalculus or MA 159
• MA 446 requires Differential Equations (MA 264)
• The prerequisites for MA 453 are contained in the five required courses.

 

Minor in Applied Mathematics
(23 credit hours)

Course Requirements:

• MA 163 – Integrated Calculus and Analytic Geometry I (5 Cr.)
• MA 164 – Integrated Calculus and Analytic Geometry II (5 Cr.)
• MA 261 – Multivariate Calculus (4 Cr.)
• MA 264 – Differential Equations
• MA 265 – Linear Algebra
• MA 472 – Applied Mathematics

Prerequisites:

• MA 163 requires High School precalculus or MA 159
• Before taking MA 472, a student should have programming experience.
