‘A Taste of Africa: The Continent’ featured Feb. 23
The cultures of several African nations will be featured during Purdue University Calumet’s “A Taste of Africa: The Continent,” Saturday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. in Alumni Hall of the Student Union & Library.
The event will include performers and exhibitors representing several African nations, as well as authentic food—yassa chicken, fried plantains and peanut soup—arts and crafts displays, storytelling, banjo playing, a traditional and modern African fashion show, and an Ethiopian bread making demonstration.
Admission to the three-hour program is free.
Purdue Calumet Visiting Instructor Anatole Balma is organizing the event with assistance from graduate student assistant Jim Severa. The program is the latest in a series offered by Purdue Calumet to highlight the diverse cultures of those individuals who make up this region.

Purdue Calumet’s Student Union & Library is located one-third mile north of Interstate 80/94, three blocks east of Indianapolis Boulevard, north of the traffic light on 173rd Street. Free parking is available directly south of the building.
