NEWS RELEASE:
E-Center to host 2 workshops for those who want to start a business
Purdue University Calumet’s Entrepreneurship Center is offering two workshops for individuals interested in starting, operating and planning a business.
A Business Feasibility Workshop, scheduled March 6 at 6 p.m., is designed to acquaint entrepreneurs with the challenges, responsibilities, opportunities and problems associated with starting and operating a business.
“This workshop will help individuals determine their preparedness and ability to start a business before making any potentially costly and inadvisable decisions,” Managing Director of Purdue Calumet’s Entrepreneurship Center Dushan Nikolovski said.
A Business Plan Workshop, offered March 20 at 5 p.m., will focus on developing a solid business plan prior to making any investment. Such a plan should include financial, marketing, employee and strategic considerations.
“Nearly 70 per cent of all new business ventures that start every year fail to succeed because of poor or no planning,” Nikolovski said. “A good business plan is like having a good set of instructions that guide you through a difficult project. This workshop will guide individuals through the various parts of a business plan and help them start developing their own business plan.”
Cost to attend each workshop is $50, or $90 to attend both. Due to limited seating, early registration is encouraged. Both workshops will be held at the Entrepreneurship Center, located one mile west of campus on 169th Street between Columbia and Southeastern Avenues.
Registration and other information can be obtained by phoning the Entrepreneurship Center at 219/989-2100 or 800/HI-PURDUE, ext. 2100.
