2 School of Technology professors recognized
Two Purdue University Calumet School of Technology professors have earned scholarly and national professional association recognition, respectively.

Prof. Omer Farook
Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology Omer Farook has been accepted this spring as a Fellow of the Purdue University Discovery Park Fellowship Program.
Professor of Mechanical Engineering Technology Mohammad Zahraee is serving as National Chair Elect of the Technology Accreditation Commission (TAC) of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
Farook of Hammond is conducting collaborative research, designing a Face Recognition System (FRS) that is operational in low light conditions. He is working with Purdue Professor Stephen Elliott in the Biometrics Standards, Performance, and Assurance Laboratory within the e-Enterprise Center of Discovery Park.
Farook is the second Purdue Calumet School of Technology faculty member in as many years to receive a Discovery Park Fellowship. Associate Professor of Industrial Engineering Technology Lash Mapa received one last year to pursue radio frequency identification-related research.

Prof. Mohammad Zahraee
In his role as National Chair Elect of TAC, Zahraee of Naperville, Ill., serves on the eight-member TAC Executive Committee, which chairs accreditation visits. He also edits institutional accreditation reports, chairs a committee and represents the Chair on an as-needed basis. Following his one-year appointment, he will assume responsibilities as National Chair of TAC.
Farook has served on the Purdue Calumet faculty since 1984. He holds degrees from Government Polytechnic (India), Chicago Technical College and Illinois Institute of Technology.
Zahraee, a Purdue Calumet faculty member since 1989, holds an undergraduate degree from Southern Illinois University and graduate degrees from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
