NEWS RELEASE:
TRIO Gala scheduled on campus Feb. 29
Purdue University Calumet’s Educational Opportunity Programs (TRIO) will celebrate success serving students from disadvantaged backgrounds by hosting a TRIO Gala Friday, Feb. 29 at 6 p.m. in the campus’ Calumet Conference Center.
Purdue Calumet’s Educational Opportunity Programs—Educational Talent Search, McNair Achievement Program, Upward Bound and Student Support Services—seek to promote higher educational opportunities for low-income, first-generation college students, as well as those with disabilities.
An objective of the TRIO Gala is to develop a TRIO network of graduates and community leaders who can increase their active participation in ensuring that students continue to receive quality services.
Another objective is to raise funding for a TRIO Book Fund, a comprehensive effort to provide supplemental resources for students lacking course materials.
Additional information about the TRIO Gala and how TRIO programs provide educational opportunities for all Americans regardless of race, ethnic background or economic circumstance can be obtained by contacting the Purdue Calumet Office of Educational Opportunity Programs at 219/989-2779.
