NEWS RELEASE:
World War II art exhibit on display through March 31
An exhibit featuring pictures of local World War II veterans will be displayed at Purdue University Calumet through March 31. Viewing of the free exhibit is in the second floor art gallery of the Student Union & Library.
The “Of Men and Mission” exhibit features 25 portraits of local World War II veterans taken by local photographer Pete Doherty.
Kathleen Szot, public relations coordinator for Lakeshore Public Television, said a documentary featuring memories of the veterans will air next fall. Szot said she hopes the exhibit generates a “greater appreciation” for the local participants and history of World War II.
The exhibit is open Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. During March 10-14, the gallery will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. It will be closed March 23.
