NEWS RELEASE:
PUC nursing students to assist at women’s health fair Tuesday (4/8)
A women’s health fair, with Purdue University Calumet nursing students providing screenings and other health education, will be held Tuesday (4/8) from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Healthy East Chicago, 100 West Chicago Ave.
During the free event, attendees can receive blood pressure, vision, cholesterol and glucose screenings, as well as height and weight evaluations. To maximize the accuracy readings of cholesterol and glucose screenings, participants are advised to fast from midnight the previous night.
Attendees also can learn more about breast and cervical cancer, women’s heart disease, osteoporosis, smoking cessation counseling, and advice about proper diet and exercise.
Door prizes will be awarded.
More information can be obtained by contacting Healthy East Chicago at 219/397-5431.
The health fair is sponsored by Healthy East Chicago, Purdue Calumet’s School of Nursing, and the Northwest Indiana Area Health Education Center. It also is supported by the Experiential Education Design and Development Award.
