NEWS RELEASE:

Napoleon Hill World Learning Center open house is May 5-9

A series of self-improvement programs and motivational presentations focusing on the Journey to Success will highlight the Napoleon Hill World Learning Center’s open house, May 5-9, at The Calumet Conference Center of Purdue University Calumet.

The open house will feature sessions led by singer/songwriter/storyteller Jan Mahannah—“Journey for Significance and Success”—Wednesday, May 7 and rags to riches business man Jim Connelly—“Journey to the Hall of Fame: A Winner’s Perspective: The Life and Times of Rockne, Rudy and Holtz”—Thursday, May 8.

Through stories and songs, Mahannah’s session is designed to help attendees discern their skills and gifts, define their major purpose in life, connect their feeling nature with their intellect and guide them in expressing themselves with significance for personal and global success.

Connelly overcame an abused childhood and uninspiring adolescence to become general manager of one of the most respected hotels in southern California and then a Wall Street investment firm banker. During his session, the 2002 Lou Holtz Hall of Fame Distinguished American will discuss success from the perspective of three Notre Dame inspirational football legends: coaches Knute Rockne and Lou Holtz and the ever-determined former player Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger. This session also includes a ticket to the afternoon performance of the world premiere musical, “Knute Rockne All American,” at The Center for Visual and Performing Arts in Munster.

Registration cost to attend either session, each of which includes lunch, is $99. Discounts also are available. Information can be obtained by phoning 219/989-3166 or 800/HI-PURDUE, ext. 3166 or e-mailing nhf@calumet.purdue.edu.

Other scheduled topical presentations during the open house are as follows:

  • Monday, May 5 – Navigating Life’s Potholes, The Gift of Gratitude, Visioning with Applied Faith and Creativity Fueled by Adversity (free). Attendees also can walk the world peace labyrinth.
  • Tuesday, May 6 – D.I.S.C.over Yourself and Others, How Money CAN Buy Happiness or Experience the Koru and Dance the Haka-Real Life Masterminding (free).
  • Friday, May 9 – Imagination and Inspiration: a bus trip to the Fair Oaks Dairy and Shrine in St. John. ($10).

Judith Williamson, director of the Napoleon Hill World Learning Center, said the open house sessions are intended for anyone interested in improving their life skills.

The Napoleon Hill World Learning Center, housed at Purdue Calumet, provides educational opportunities for advancing personal success based on 17 principles developed by the late author, Hill, whose “Think and Grow Rich” is one of the top selling books of all time.

The Calumet Conference Center is located at the far south end of campus, one-third mile north of Interstate 80/94; three blocks east of Indianapolis Boulevard, south of the traffic light on 173rd Street east of Woodmar Avenue.
