NEWS RELEASE:
Grayling Gordon resigns as men’s basketball coach
Purdue University Calumet’s men’s head basketball coach Grayling Gordon has resigned after one season. The Peregrines finished 6-23 during 2007-08.
Assistant Vice Chancellor for Health, Recreation and Sports/Athletic Director Robert Bunnell said a national search for Gordon’s replacement will begin immediately.
Gordon was hired last July to resurrect a Purdue Calumet program crippled by academic ineligibilities during the 2006-07 season. During Gordon’s lone Purdue Calumet campaign, all his Peregrine players maintained their eligibility.
Gordon, who prepped at East Chicago Washington, also previously served two seasons as a Purdue Calumet assistant under former head coach Gary Hayes (2000-02). In between his Purdue Calumet appointments, he was head coach at Purdue North Central for five seasons. He also coached three years at his collegiate alma mater, the University of Dubuque (IA).
