Purdue University Calumet’s art director honored in creativity competition

Purdue University Calumet recently received three Hermes Creative Awards for graphic design of the university’s “Purdue Calumet INSIGHT” magazine and an admissions publication, “Plan for Success,” created and submitted by Art Director Kaylie Hall.

The awards, administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP), recognized Hall’s work with a Platinum Award in the overall design category and a Gold Award in the publications/magazine category for her designs for “Purdue Calumet INSIGHT.” Additionally, Purdue Calumet received an Honorable Mention in the publications brochure category for an admissions “road piece.”

The international competition is open to creative professionals who aid in the development, writing and design of traditional and modern media. The AMCP received some 4,000 design pieces for the 2008 competition.

Hall explained that she is humbled to be recognized for her creativity.

“As an art director, as well as a graphic designer, you want to be recognized for your creativity and design concepts,” said Hall of Griffith. “The fact that both the Platinum and Gold awards went to the very first issue of “Purdue Calumet INSIGHT” magazine is truly exciting.”

The award not only recognizes Hall’s creativity, but she also hopes to it will enhance Purdue Calumet’s image.

“For Purdue Calumet, receiving these honors could send a positive message to our alumni, current students, their families and our own faculty and staff that we have products worth reading,” she said. “It’s rewarding to me to contribute in getting Purdue Calumet’s image out there, and now Purdue Calumet’s name will be seen in the design world, too, not just in academia.”
