Advance registration for free admission to how-to-start-a-business seminar, Aug. 26
The nuts and bolts first steps of starting a business will be the focus of a seminar hosted by Purdue University Calumet’s Entrepreneurship Center, Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 6 p.m.
The seminar, “What Is My First Step?,” is designed to acquaint prospective business owners with basic considerations to make when starting a business.
Business experts will discuss the following topics: Conducting a Business Feasibility Study, Writing and Having a Business Plan, Marketing Strategies, Financial Planning, Legal Planning, and Business Operations/Human Resources. A question/answer session will follow.

The two-hour seminar, scheduled in the university’s Calumet Conference Center, will serve as an overview to a series of five related, start-up business classes the Entrepreneurship Center is offering this fall. Each class will feature weekly sessions for four to seven weeks. Four scholarships good for free admission to each of the classes will be awarded at the Aug. 26 seminar.
