NEWS RELEASE:

Advance registration for free admission to how-to-start-a-business seminar, Aug. 26

The nuts and bolts first steps of starting a business will be the focus of a seminar hosted by Purdue University Calumet’s Entrepreneurship Center, Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 6 p.m.

The seminar, “What Is My First Step?,” is designed to acquaint prospective business owners with basic considerations to make when starting a business.

Business experts will discuss the following topics: Conducting a Business Feasibility Study, Writing and Having a Business Plan, Marketing Strategies, Financial Planning, Legal Planning, and Business Operations/Human Resources. A question/answer session will follow.

Due to limited seating and to qualify for free admission, attendees should register in advance by phoning Purdue Calumet’s Entrepreneurship Center at 219/989-2100 or 800/HI-PURDUE, ext. 2100.

The two-hour seminar, scheduled in the university’s Calumet Conference Center, will serve as an overview to a series of five related, start-up business classes the Entrepreneurship Center is offering this fall. Each class will feature weekly sessions for four to seven weeks. Four scholarships good for free admission to each of the classes will be awarded at the Aug. 26 seminar.

Other information can be obtained by contacting Dushan Nikolovski, managing director of Purdue Calumet’s Entrepreneurship Center, at either phone number above.
