17 students receive research awards
Seventeen Purdue University Calumet students received Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) summer research awards.
The awards, funded through the National Science Foundation, provided support for students to participate in research projects with a faculty mentor this summer.
Award recipients and their academic discipline are listed alphabetically by their city/town of residence.
Indiana: Cedar Lake--Sarah Parrish, biological sciences; Crown Point--Sarah Dwyer, biological sciences; Jeffery Hein, computer science; Jamie Luther, chemistry; William Obermeyer, computer science and mathematics; Dyer-- Candice Colome, chemistry; Jeffrey O’Neill, chemistry; Sandie Zlotorzynski, biological sciences; East Chicago—Cristina Aguilar, engineering; Gary—Corey Hopper, chemistry; Highland—Dan Pop, chemistry; Michigan City—Tyamo Okosun, engineering; Schererville—Lori Simmons-Stalter, biological sciences; and Whiting—Anthony Clemente, chemistry.
Illinois: Crete--Thomas Roesel, engineering; Orland Park--Bryan Gaynor, biological sciences; and Tinley Park--Ann Lahola, biological sciences.
The LSAMP program is offered to help increase the college graduation rate of underrepresented students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics disciplines. Purdue Calumet is among seven Indiana universities/colleges comprising the Indiana alliance.
