International Film Series continues Sept. 30 – admission is free
Purdue University Calumet’s International Film Series resumes with a campus showing of “4 luni, 3 saptamani si 2 zile,” Tuesday, Sept. 30.
- Tuesday, Sept. 30 – “4 luni, 3 saptamani si 2 zile,” (4 Months, 3 Weeks, & 2 Days), a Romanian film about an abortion and negotiations necessary for survival in the final days of the Soviet bloc (Classroom Office Building, room 110).
All films are presented in their original language with English subtitles. A faculty-led discussion will take place before and after each film viewing.
“International films are valuable from a cinematic perspective and can show the culture, history and customs of other countries, Purdue Calumet Foreign Languages and Literatures Continuing Lecturer Steve Lombardo said. “A film is like a window into another country’s culture and society; we have tried to choose films that are representative of other countries“
The International Film Series is co-sponsored by the university’s Departments of Foreign Languages and Literatures, English and Philosophy, Communication and Creative Arts, the International Programs Office, and the School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.
