NEWS RELEASE:

‘Want to Start a Business?’ workshop is Thursday (9/18)

“Want to Start a Business?”, a feasibility workshop to acquaint prospective business owners with opportunities, responsibilities and challenges involved in starting and operating a business, will be held Thursday (9/18) at 6 p.m. at Purdue University Calumet’s Academic Learning Center in south Lake County.

The two-hour workshop is hosted by the Northwest Indiana Small Business Development Center. It is designed to help would-be entrepreneurs determine their preparedness and ability to start a business before making a costly investment to do so.

According to the Small Business Development Center, nearly 70 percent of all new business ventures fail annually due to insufficient planning.

Admission to attend the workshop is $25. Due to limited seating, pre-registration and pre-payment via Visa, MasterCard or Discover are required and can be accomplished by phoning 219/644-3513.

The Northwest Indiana Small Business Development Center is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration, the State of Indiana and other local partners.

Purdue Calumet’s Academic Learning Center is located at 9900 Connecticut Dr., two miles south of U.S. Highway 30, north of 101st Street, just east of Broadway Avenue . It is adjacent to the Purdue Technology Center of Northwest Indiana.
