NEWS RELEASE:
Colleges, universities partner to host national financial & credit crisis forum 10/10
Economic and financial faculty experts from six northwest Indiana colleges and universities will share their insights on the nation’s current financial and credit crisis, Friday, Oct. 10 at 8:30 a.m. in Alumni Hall of Purdue University Calumet’s Student Union & Library.
Joining Purdue Calumet in collaborating on the forum are Indiana University Northwest, Calumet College of St. Joseph, Ivy Tech State College, Valparaiso University and Purdue North Central.
The forum will feature two sessions. During the first, faculty experts from the participating institutions will offer explanations, details and interpretations about the following topics: history of the current crisis; stipulations, pros and cons about the government’s $700 billion bail-out plan; and international and regional/local implications of the United States market crisis.
A panel of 12 experts will respond to audience questions during the second session.
“For most individuals, trying to assess the state of our financial system is extremely difficult,” Purdue Calumet Dean of the School of Management Martine Duchatelet said. “It is intended through this forum that experts from our respective institutions who have been following this matter closely will be able to advance greater understanding and perspective.”
Admission is free, but due to limited seating individuals planning to attend should advance register by phoning 219/989-2388.
The Student Union & Library is located north of 173rd Street, just east of Woodmar Avenue. Free parking is available in the lot south of the Student Union & Library, as well as in the parking garage on the east side of campus off Wicker Avenue, north of 171st Street.
