NEWS RELEASE:
‘Birds of Prey’ family program is 10/25
Purdue University Calumet is inviting parents and their children to send the afternoon of Saturday, Oct. 25 on campus, learning about wildlife and watching a movie.
A free, live and educational program about respecting wildlife, titled “Birds of Prey,” and sponsored by the university’s Office of the Dean of Students, begins at noon in Calumet Falls in the Student Union & Library. Kim Hoover, of Hoots to Howls Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, will be present and accompanied by a Great Horned Owl, Short-eared Owl and Barred Owl.
“Fly Away Home,” a story of a young girl who helps raise abandoned goslings, will follow the program at 1 p.m. The showing is sponsored by the Office of Student Activities.
“As a family attending the program, not only is there an opportunity to spend quality time with one another, but the prospect of learning together also exists,” said Shannon Hamel, judicial administrator and student liaison for Purdue Calumet’s Office of the Dean of Students.
The program is free, though parents are encouraged to pre-register by Oct. 17 by phoning 219/989-4141 or 800/HI-PURDUE, ext. 4141.
