NEWS RELEASE:
120 College Bound Scholars are attending PUC
Forty new recipients of Hammond’s College Bound Scholarship are enrolled this fall at Purdue University Calumet.
This fall’s class of recipients increases to 120 the total number of College Bound Scholars attending Purdue Calumet.
“Mayor (Thomas) McDermott has demonstrated outstanding vision in advancing the College Bound Scholarship program,” Purdue Calumet Chancellor Howard Cohen said. “While making higher education more affordable, it is proving to be an important investment in the future of Hammond and its families. We are excited that this scholarship is enabling Purdue Calumet to become a launching pad for so many potentially bright futures, as well as a vehicle for contributing to lower unemployment and higher earning potential among university graduates.”
The College Bound Scholarship is a full tuition, renewable award of up to $7,500 per academic year directed to students of Hammond homeowners. The scholarship was initiated to encourage home ownership and higher educational pursuit, resulting, ultimately, in improved quality of life for Hammond residents.
