NEWS RELEASE:
Students place 3rd in state wide accounting competition
A four-member team of students from Purdue University Calumet’s School of Management placed third in a recent case study competition, sponsored by the Indiana CPA Society.
Representing Purdue Calumet were: Jennifer Mishler of Schererville, Sheryar Qamar of Michigan City, Adam Rooney of Homewood, Ill. and Tonya Witt of Hammond. All four are members of the university’s Finance and Accounting Club.
In response to the topic, “Future Alternatives to the Current CPA Firm Business Model,” the students interviewed professionals and reviewed literature before delivering their report of findings and recommendations. They then presented their case to a panel of judges last week.
“The team did an excellent job with the report and their presentation,” Club Advisor and Purdue Calumet accounting faculty member Ed Furticella said. “This marks the second time in the past three years a Purdue Calumet student team has advanced to the finals of this competition, which is a great learning experience.”
The competition was open to all Indiana colleges and universities.
