Physician Assistant /Nurse Practitioner USPHS Officer or eligible for commissioning: O4 officers preferred, but will review all applicants. Applicant must have a current scuba diving certificate from a nationally recognized agency and must be able to pass the NOAA dive physical. Applicants with experience in diving/ undersea/hyperbaric or aerospace medicine will be considered ahead of others. Teaching or conference presentation experience is also highly desirable. Current ACLS certification is mandatory, ATLS is desirable.
Position Description:
Reviews physical exams and histories for diving fitness; develops training curricula in diving and medical related topics; emergently evaluates potential dive injuries during classes; maintains onsite presence during all dive training; liaison to outside agencies on diving issues; iates emergency hyperbaric treatment via phone to remote locations while establishing contact with Director of Health Services for definitive care; works with NOAA Dive Medical Review board for case review and general diving issues; and conducts quarterly proficiency dives
