Admission Requirements for the Accelerated Second Degree Baccalaureate Option
Purdue University Calumet School of Nursing offers an accelerated program for non-nurses who possess a minimum of a baccalaureate degree in another discipline. This intense and innovative program is designed specifically for full time, academically talented students, who are mature critical thinkers, and motivated to earn a BS degree in nursing in a shortened time frame. Students who have a bachelor's degree in another major that are not interested in a full time program or do not meet the admission requirements are encouraged to meet with the nursing academic advisor and explore their options in the traditional program.
Admission Requirements:
The successful applicant will:
- Have a minimum of a baccalaureate degree in any major from an accredited institution.
- Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 from prior baccalaureate and/or graduate program.
- Have a minimum grade of "C" or better in all prerequisite courses.
- Provide an essay outlining personal goals and objectives along with a resume.
- Complete a face-to-face interview with members of the admissions committee.
Entrance Requirements:
- Complete all OSHA requirements prior to enrollment.
- Complete a criminal background check.
- Meet with the nursing academic advisor.
- Attend the nursing orientations
