Do I have to be a student to enroll my child?

No. Enrollment is open to children of students, staff and faculty, and to the community.

We enroll children ages 3 to 5 for our preschool programs and children that meet the state’s age requirement for kindergarten entry for our kindergarten program.

How does scheduling work? Do I have to reapply each semester?

Enrollment is on going and a waiting list is maintained as needed. Families are asked to re-enroll every semester. Once the initial paperwork is completed the first semester of enrollment at Purdue Riley, you will be asked to submit a shorter form requesting hours in the center for the following semester.

If I keep my child out for the summer, can I still register for the fall semester?

Yes. You will have to pay a registration fee to hold your space.

Do you allow schedule changes?

Yes. But a schedule adjustment fee may be charged to families who request more than one change per semester.

If my child arrives late or misses a day, can she/he stay later or come in another day to make it up?

No. Scheduled hours cannot be switched or saved for later use. If you need extra time beyond your regularly scheduled hours see the center receptionist, secretary, assistant director or director to complete an extended care form. Extended care hours (unscheduled care or commonly referred to as drop off hours) are available to all enrolled families at an hourly rate — space permitting.

What are the current rates? And how do your rates compare to other centers?

Please check the parent handbook or ask for a copy of the fee schedule at the front desk. We check the local market rate each fiscal year.

When do I pay the registration fee?

A nonrefundable registration fee is paid upon enrollment and at the beginning of each new semester.

What do I need to do to withdraw my child from the program?

You must notify Purdue Riley as soon as possible and fill out the appropriate paper work. Two weeks notice is required.

Can the child center withdraw services and dismiss my child from the program?

Yes. On occasion and under certain circumstances we end the enrollment agreement. Please refer to our cancellation of enrollment procedures in the parent handbook.

Does the child center provide services during semester breaks?

Yes. Please check the center calendar for more information.

Do I receive a credit for vacations?

Yes. One business week vacation credit (Monday through Friday) is available to every family each semester (fall, spring, summer).

Are you open year round?

No. We close after the last day of the summer program and open on the first day of fall semester.

What do I do when I arrive at the center with my child?

The first thing to do is to sign in at the front desk and pick up your child's name tag. We ask that you walk your child into his or her classroom and make sure a staff member greets you. Depending on your schedule, this might be a good time to pick up your mail or to chat with your child's teacher.

Do I need to contact the center if I want someone not on my emergency pick up list to pick up my child at the center?

Yes. We do not allow unauthorized individuals to pick up your child. You must fill out the necessary paperwork beforehand. No one except the individuals on your child's application and emergency card are authorized to pick up your child. Anyone can drop off your child at the child center but only authorized individuals can pick up your child.

What happens if I'm running late at pick up time?

In the event of an emergency please contact the center and let us know. A late fee may be accessed to your account. Parents or caregivers who are repeatedly late will be asked to make alternate care arrangements.
