DISCIPLINE (Learning Prosocial Behaviors and Guidance)
return to faq topics
What do the teachers do when a child behaves inappropriately?
We use positive guidance techniques to help prevent challenging behaviors. Please see the section in our parent handbook entitled “Learning Prosocial Behaviors and Guidance” for more details.
Will I be contacted if the teachers have a concern regarding my child's behavior?
If we are not able to help the child problem solve the behavior in the classroom or if we see a pattern of behavior that is not responding to usual guidance techniques we will ask to meet with you for your input and assistance. Teachers and staff are genuinely interested in brainstorming solutions together with parents to help benefit the child. You or your child's teacher can request a meeting.
What should I do at home if my child acts inappropriately at the center?
Purdue Riley teachers are ready to help children manage at “school behaviors”. We would however like to share or team up on strategies so we can be as supportive and consistent as possible in helping each child manage his or her own behaviors.
