Tutoring
The Tutoring Center is staffed with more than 70-75 student tutors. The faculty recommended tutors have demonstrated proficiency in the courses they tutor and maintain an overall grade point average of "B" or higher.
Free tutoring sessions in most University subjects are scheduled throughout the semester. For information on obtaining tutoring in subjects not listed on the schedule, please contact the Tutoring Center at 989-3227.
Supplemental Instruction
The Tutoring Center offers a specialized tutorial known as Supplemental Instruction. SI is led by a faculty recommended student who has already taken and passed a particular subject with a grade of A or B. The student will attend the specific class and then facilitate collaborative learning sessions for students enrolled in that class. This instruction is free to students in the class.

Private Tutoring:
The Tutoring Center also offers private tutoring for not only Purdue Calumet students, but for the community as well. All students, whether K-12 or university level, are able to receive assistance from college tutors in a variety of subjects at an affordable price. For further information about this service please call the Tutoring Center at 989-3227. A request for private tutoring may also be submitted.
Tutors are available for these subjects:
- English: Reading, Writing, Composition, Literature, ESL
- Science: Biology, Chemistry (Inorganic and Organic), Earth Science, Physics
- Math: Elementary, Algebra, Geometry. Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Sequential I, II, II, Statistics
- Computer Science: HTML, C, C++, COBOL programming,
- Foreign Languages: Spanish, French, German
- Social Studies: Geography, American History, European History

Modular Algebra
For PUC students who have taken the math placement test and have found that they need a quick refresher to bring back their basic math or algebra skills, The Tutoring Center offers a free computerized tutorial called Modumath. Modumath is offered on a first-come, first-served basis and has been shown to be a powerful tool in resurrecting math ability.
