Battle of the Bands-Oct. 22
Battle of the Bands, co-sponsored by Purdue Calumet's Student Activities and Thunderclap Recording Studios, was held on Saturday,
October 22, 6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. in the PUC gym located in the Fitness and Recreation building.
Sixteen local bands competed for recording time and a professional consultation with Thunderclap Recording Studio and for gift certificates from Rubino's Music Center

The cookout is sposored by Chancellor Cohen and his wife Patricia Cohen, at the Kuiper House.
The cookout is for student origanzation leaders to meet him and his senior leadership team.

Student Life - Picnic
|
Student Activities annually hosts a picnic in the Founder's Plaza,
during the Stress Free week in the spring semester. This is a chance for students
to relax at picnic tables enjoying snow cones as well as hot dogs, chips and beverages.
DJ is also at the picnic providing good tunes for the students to enjoy.

Chancellor’s Reading Circle
|
The Chancellor’s Reading Circle invites students to expand their opportunity for intellectual
interaction with faculty on campus outside the classroom setting. Students read a book chosen by
a faculty member and later attend a book discussion held at the Kuiper House, Chancellor Howard Cohen’s home.
The discussions are always free-flowing and very enjoyable. Books are complimentary and available in the

Homecoming
|
Every year in February, the Purdue Calumet Peregrines welcome the homecoming
of men's' and women's' basketball teams. The students elect a Homecoming king and
queen to be crowned at the dance following the men's' game.

Stress Free Week
This event is designed to help students relieve their stress during the week prior to final exams.
During the week, massage chairs, stress counseling and relaxation activities are available courtesy of Student
Activities, the Wellness Center, the Counseling Center and the Library, among others.

UPS Music Lunch Series
Local musicians are spotlighted once a month in Calumet Falls (SUL).
Performances are scheduled during lunchtime and admission is free. Everyone is welcome!

Community Service Projects
There are many opportunities for you and your organization to volunteer
in the community. Student organizations have volunteered with Hospice, The Boys and Girls Club,
local women’s shelters and other local charities in the past.

Student Organizations Fair / Welcome Back & Rush Week
|
Students can become acquainted with the various organizational groups on campus during the
Student Organizations Fair/Welcome Back Week and Rush Week. These events, held in the SUL
Concourse the first week of classes in fall and spring semesters, give students the opportunity
to meet student organization members with similar interests, while simultaneously adding a new dimension
to their college education.

Monthly workshops cover topics such as diversity, applying to graduate school,

Student Government Association
Student Government Association, elections were held in the month of May, 06.
Stephen Lynch was elected as the President and Danielle Ciesielski as the
Vice-President.
