Q2. How do I start a Purdue Calumet organization?

A2. Students who are interested in starting a new club must stop by the office and pick up a start-up packet.

There are two requirements that must be met before starting a new club:

  1. Membership must consist of at least (3) Purdue Calumet students.
  2. All student organizations must have a Faculty Advisor.

Q3. Does Student Activities help fund new clubs?

A3. Funding for new organizations is available after consultation with the Director of Student Activities. This is a one-time allocation to assist the new group in its initial development.

Q4. What are the advantages of students joining a student organizations?

A4. Personal development - When a person becomes involved in an organization, he or she is exposed to a variety of people. The range includes men and women of all ages, academic programs, cultures, and interests. Through working together, sharing ideas and seeking similar goals, we learn more about these people and ourselves.

Leadership Training - Every organization needs leaders; it is impossible to progress without their guidance and direction. The skills and talents an individual develops as a leader will always be useful in life.

Enjoyment - At a minimum, should you choose to come involved in an organization just for the fun of it, you will have added an enjoyable dimension to your college experience.

There is something here for almost everyone. If you don’t see it, start it!

Q5. Who should I contact to address my concerns about the campus?

A5. If you have any concerns/comments about enhancing the welfare of the student body, students should address them to the Student Government Association. Their office is located on the 3rd floor of the Student Union & Library Building in Room 324G. Their website is http://life.calumet.purdue.edu/sga and their telephone number is 219-989-2885.

Q6. How can I develop a webpage for my student organization?

A6. First, you have to fill out a Student Org. Web Server User Request Form. You may obtain one by clicking the following link. After you complete the form, you may drop it off at SUL 104. Only one user can be put on each form. So, if you have multiple developers, make sure each developer fills out a form.
