One-to-one Tutoring: These 45 minute sessions focus on the writer. These session works toward enabling the writer to overcome writing difficulties in ways that will be useful in the session and beyond.
Group Tutorials: Working together with others on a single project, on similar projects, or with similar problems, the group tutorial works best. This type of tutoring does not focus on individuals’ work, but rather on solving problems for a group of writers through peer discussion.
Workshops: The WC provides workshops throughout the year that focus on writing topics suggested by faculty, requested by students, and acknowledged by writing tutors as recurrent issues for student writers. Workshops will be focused on issues particular to student writing and will provide participants with both opportunities for discussion and hands-on solutions.
Computer Lab: There are 14 computers available for student use. These computers are comparable to those found in most other PUC computer labs. Other equipment is also available for limited use. Except when meetings or classes are scheduled in the WC, this lab is open to all PUC students and student writers are given first priority.
Reference Materials: The WC has many resources available for you to use on site. Some of the resources available are dictionaries, books on documentation and style, creative writing and business writing, and resources for writing resumes, cover letters, and other professional documents.
Play Area for Children: Many students are also parents. The WC has a small collection of toys and games for young children. While Mom or Dad works with a tutor, children can keep themselves occupied and remain under close parental supervision.
Bulletin Boards: There are three bulletin boards open to student/faculty/staff postings of materials relevant and appropriate to the PUC community.
